Dynamic Facades & Urban Integration
Parking structures are often treated as purely utilitarian afterthoughts. Siena Parking Structure redefines this typology, transforming a high-capacity multi-story garage into a vibrant, architecturally engaging contributor to the urban landscape.
By balancing industrial materiality with rhythmic color theory, the design elevates an everyday infrastructure project into a landmark of functional modernism.
The defining feature of the building is its highly textured, modular facade. Composed of perforated expanded-metal mesh panels, the exterior plays with light, shadow, and transparency.
Beyond its striking aesthetic, the facade serves a critical passive environmental function. The perforated mesh provides 100% natural ventilation and optimal daylighting throughout the interior decks, eliminating the need for costly mechanical HVAC systems while offering privacy screening from adjacent residential buildings.
Inside, the design embraces a clean, brutalist aesthetic. Raw, exposed concrete pillars and ceilings offer robust durability, while strategic pops of yellow signage and column paint ensure intuitive, safe navigation for both drivers and pedestrians.
